A SOCIO-URBAN REFLECTION ON AMSTERDAM
How are policies aimed at creating inclusive and just, resilient and lively cities projected onto the urban landscape?
A group of 14 students, representing eleven countries and numerous academic backgrounds, spends three weeks studying the socio-urban planning and policies of Amsterdam, in and outside of the class room. The introductory programme is divided up into thematic weeks: The Public City
| on citizen participation, diversity and public space | | including workshop on social norms in public space | Home and Away | on belonging, tourism and quality of life | | including excursion to De Bijlmer & Rotterdam | | including tourism expedition & workshop feeling at home | The Future Proof City | on public health, food and sustainability | | including excursion to De Ceuvel | | including workshop visual storytelling | Parallel to the lectures, excursions and workshops, students partake in RapidLab; a short and intensive studio culminating in proposals for the community-based development of the Marineterrein.
